Hagar Basis
Reflexology Academy's Director Hagar Basis was originally trained by Anthony Porter during the 1980s and has delivered the ART™ post-graduate training programme to reflexologists since its conception back in 1989. Hagar was trained in the Original Ingham Method of Reflexology receiving her qualification in 1989.
In 1997 she was appointed Course Director for the International Institute of Reflexology (UK) and over a period of 16 years Hagar successfully delivered thirty six IIR (UK) Reflexology Diploma Courses. After she went on to train 100's of reflexologists the Level 5 Reflexology diploma qualification in partnership with Centralia. In 2021 Hagar developed Reflexology Academy's very own practitioner training course, the Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Reflexology (RA DIP) which she continues to teach at the London venue. In recognition of services to Reflexology, Hagar was awarded Honorary Fellowship of the ART Register of Advanced Reflexologists in 1998.
During this time Hagar has delivered a wide range of post- graduate seminars and CPD specialist workshops for practicing reflexologists. Following invitations to provide training in Turkey, she successfully established the first IIR diploma training school in Istanbul. Hagar continues to provide consultancy and training internationally.
Hagar's 33 years of practical experience as a reflexology educator and practitioner has enabled her to adapt and refine techniques to enhance therapeutic effectiveness, a powerful approach which is integral to Reflexology Academy's ethos and practical training programme. Her passion is in the practical application, which fundamentally is about ‘Moving the Energy’ as a transformational tool leading to wholeness. She teaches her own bi-manual integrated approach to working the reflexes. Hagar has been fortunate enough to work on many hundreds of patients presenting a wide variety of disorders.
In October 2017 Hagar was presented a special award in recognition for her significant contribution to Reflexology in the field of education from the International Council of Reflexologists (ICR), at their International Conference in Taiwan.

Melissa Softley
Melissa teaches Anatomy , Physiology and Pathology to Reflexology Academy Students, her dynamic approach and wealth of knowledge is inspiring.

She has a keen interest in the "New Anatomy" that has arisen from Tom Myers (Anatomy trains) ground breaking work on myofascia, and has undertaken training with yoga and movement teachers that bring this approach, and are inclusive of others such as biomechanics, cranial and muscle energy therapies within their framework.
Melissa has been teaching yoga for over 20 years and runs regular Scaravelli inspired small group classes and therapeutic one to one sessions.

Eileen Houghton
Eileen graduated from the University of Aston in Birmingham with a BSc Honours degree in Pharmacology and Computer Science. Having received regular reflexology treatments herself, Eileen wanted to learn more about Reflexology and embarked on a Diploma course and qualified in 2001 with the International Institute of Reflexology (IIR UK).
Eileen has been a Reflexologist for over 12 years and in 2003 Eileen accepted the opportunity to become a teaching assistant for Hagar Basis, then Course Director for the IIR UK in London & South East. She has also assisted Hagar with the Advanced Reflexology, ART courses. Eileen's teaching qualification includes the City & Guilds Teaching certificate.
Reflexology Academy is proud to have Eileen as our lead assitant tutor. We value her expert tuition skills and her extensive experience and knowledge as a professional reflexologist.
